It is obvious that right now is probably the best time in human history to be a gamer. The number of games, consoles and general devices linked to the industry means that gamers will never run out of options when deciding what to buy or play next.
There are a variety of consoles available on the market, which are all battling one another to be crowned this generation’s best, and winner of the console war. Below we will discuss and compare the three major consoles, in current-day gaming, and decide which is currently winning the console war.
Best Console: PlayStation 5
It is arguable that the PlayStation 4 won the previous generation’s console wars, mainly due to the fantastic selection of PlayStation exclusives that were released for that console.
Games like Spider-Man, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and The Last of Us, were all completely exclusive to the PlayStation, meaning that Xbox gamers could not play these games on their consoles. This has carried over into the current generation with PlayStation 5 starting off strong in terms of exclusives. Xbox has struggled to match this strong start, despite putting out software and hardware that is closely comparable to the PS5.
However, the PS5 has also been lauded by experts in the industry for its new controller technology and lightning-fast load speeds. These load speeds rival those found at online casinos in NZ, making them incredibly impressive. The only thing holding the PlayStation back from complete market dominance right now is the availability of their consoles.
Strongest Competition: Xbox Series X
Ever since the first-ever Xbox and PlayStation, Microsoft and Sony have been in a constant battle for dominance over the console gaming market. Many game development companies release games for both of these consoles, so it is up to the companies to create the best gaming experience for their users. In the previous generation, it was argued that Bill Gate’s Microsoft failed to properly compete with PlayStation which had more exclusives and better sales over the decade-long period.
However, Microsoft is looking to change that, this generation, by creating a console that is fully tailored to gaming, as opposed to general entertainment. The Xbox Series X has been lauded for it’s potential, storage space, and accessible gaming library.
The Outsider: Nintendo Switch
In Western markets, Nintendo has, for the most part, always been an outsider, and it is no different with the Nintendo Switch. The Switch, however, provides a much different gaming experience to the two consoles mentioned above, being fully handheld, but also being able to adapt to a sit-down scenario. The performance of the Switch has become underrated and is largely impressive due to the size of the entire console.
The biggest positives, however, about the Switch, is the fact that it is completely portable, meaning you can always play on the go, as well as the fact that the games available on the Switch are completely unique to Nintendo and cannot be played on any other console.
